Analytics Plugin
DEPRICATED: This plugin is no longer supported as someone produced a better product that I now use.
Google Analytics plugin for better features all round
Cystats for localised stats gatheringThe notes below are for people who have the plugin already.
Anonymous website statistics can be gathered in many ways. The google consortium have released a ‘webtrends’ style package that is free and easy to use. This plug-in is in its early stages, but it allows a site owner to set up their google anayltics details without having to hack their theme, and this also allows for the same theme to be used in various blogs, and for different accounts to be used per blog.
Limitations
Most of the functionality is controlled from your google analytics so there are no missing requirements as far as this goes. There are some improvements I can see though.
Disclaimer
Generally, asa good Data Protection Act follower you could warn people that you are monitoring them even though the stats are completely anonymous, so I will add the ability to put a disclaimer in somewhere.
Plug-in installation and activation
Install and enable
Unzip the plug-in into your wp-content/plugins directory. In your plug-ins admin panel you should enable the plug-in. Once enabled, there should a GAnalytics heading on your options menu.
Parameter explanation
Analtyics script
This is the script that will be embedded. It should be obtained from your google analytics profile for the site you are updating.
The most common cause of reports not being populated with data is an error in the Analytics tracking code. Please ensure that you’ve installed the code exactly as it appears in your account – code is account and profile specific.
