Bitter Paper Theme
DEPRICATED: This plugin is no longer supported as a lot of the issues it addressed have been fixed in the core product. This theme was tested at 2.0.x and I heard a rumour that it worked in 2.1, but it does not work properly in 2.3.
The notes below are for people who have the theme already.
This theme was developed on a ‘bitter paper’ and so the name stuck.

Features
Packed with them, you can customise a lot about what your site does and how it looks, from the title banner not having to be the default WordPress standard, to the icons that appear across the site with an option to upload them directly from the admin page.
Working with WordPress 2.0, it supports widgets.
Security
Security is also a big feature of this theme, Email obfuscation is embeded in the theme as standard, so you can add email addresses to your posts and rest assured that only the most persistent trawlers will get at them.
There is support for the CAPTCHA plugin for annonymous comment posting as well as support for the privacy plugin that means only logged in visitors will see the post content.

External plugin support
Some plugins require you to ‘hack’ the theme you are using, Bitter Paper supports some as standard for example, Adhesive and Gravatars are supported by the theme off the shelf.

Theme manager
A simple one-stop-shop for managing the theme and all it facets.

Podcasting
Not really a speciality of the theme as WordPress handles this for you (I wish they would sort it out on SSL based sites though!!), but a cool icon now feeds the required RSS if you have podcasting content available in your site and the in-built syndication widget enabled.

Search boxes
You have an option of where to put your search bar. You can have it in the navigation bar as a widget, or you can have it in the header.

Login off any page
Don’t you just hate the WordPress login page that you can’t style, well with this theme you can log in from any page, and as long as you get your password right, you don’t need to see the login screen ever again. Once logged on, you get a handy navigation toolbox and administration menu if you do not have privileges for the options, they don’t appear.
